Some of the best ways to treat our skin are sitting right in our own homes! Organic honey, fruits, teas, olive oil, and even oatmeal can all be utilized to soften, moisturize, brighten, reduce redness and smooth wrinkles. If you’re looking for a quick refresh this spring, try one of these homemade face masks. They take just a few minutes to prepare and will leave your skin feeling soft, supple, and ready for a new season.

Organic Banana & Honey (to soften)

This recipe is designed for all skin types. You can use a banana as an all-natural, homemade facial mask that moisturizes your skin and leaves it looking and feeling softer.

1. Mash one half of a banana (or a whole smaller banana)

2. Mix in a tablespoon of orange juice and 1 tablespoon of honey

3. Apply to the face and keep the mixture on for 15 minutes

4. Rinse with lukewarm or cold water and then moisturize

The Breakfast Mask (to correct & soothe)

Complete with protein and whole grains, this breakfast-themed mask is used to correct and calm oily skin.

1. Combine an egg yolk, a tablespoon of honey, then a tablespoon of olive oil and half a cup of oatmeal

2. Apply to the face for 15-20 minutes

3. Rinse with lukewarm water and then moisturize

Honey & Papaya (to lighten and brighten)

This mask is specifically for those who have hyperpigmentation, sun spots, and uneven pigment.

1. Blend together two tablespoons of honey and half a cup of mashed ripe papaya

2. Apply on the face evenly for 15-20 minutes

3. Rinse with lukewarm water and then moisturize

Honey Citrus (for a healthy glow)

This honey-and-orange-based mask is a quick fix to give your face an organic healthy glow.

1. Combine three tablespoons of orange juice with half a cup of honey

2. Apply to the face and leave on for 30 minutes

3. Rinse with lukewarm water followed by cool water, then moisturize

Oatmeal & Yogurt (to reduce rosacea and redness)

The cold weather of winter can aggravate rosacea, leaving faces reddened, blotchy, and bumpy. The apple cider vinegar helps to stabilize the pH of your skin, while the oatmeal lessens irritation and the other ingredients soothe and moisturize.

1. Blend 5 tablespoons dry instant oatmeal; 2 tablespoons plain, unsweetened yogurt; 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar; and 1 teaspoon honey in a bowl.

2. Add 3 tablespoons of hot, strong green tea to the mixture.

3. Stir regularly for a few minutes, adding tea as needed until you’ve created a thick paste.

4. Apply it to your face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then wipe clean with a damp cloth.

5. Rinse with cool water, but do not use soap; pat dry gently.

6. Repeat twice a week for best results.
